Cell Towers

Because cellular communication (cell) tower projects require an FCC permit, this entails a cultural resources survey prior to installation of the tower.

At CHC, we are uniquely qualified to conduct tower surveys. Specifically, most State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO) requires not only an archaeological survey of the tower site, but also an architectural “viewshed” survey. That is, tower officials must take into account the visual effect of the proposed tower on National Register or potential National Register properties.

With our team of archaeologists and historic architects, CHC can simultaneously conduct the archaeological survey and perform the architectural viewshed investigation at the same location. This coordinated work effort is both resourceful and cost-efficient to the client.
